Happy Holidays, foxy friends! As you know, usually I do a giveaway spree around the holidays and this year is no exception. I’m excited to partner with some of my very favorite brands to bring you the opportunity to win and get discounts on the stylin’ eco-vegan goodies you and yours want for a bitchin’ 2016. Stay tuned all week, because I’ll be dropping big giveaways alongside deep discounts (so you can get a lil somethin’ for you and a lil somethin’ for everyone else on your list). Today’s giveaway is fun because this Canadian brand is doing incredible stuff, and is totally under-the-radar. Allow me to open the curtains and flood this awesome mission with some liiiiiiiiight!
Get to Know Ungalli
A basic white tee is kind of an indispensable cornerstone of any well-appointed closet or capsule wardrobe. But where to get those basics? You want something that will last, something made with care and conscience, and you need it to be as soft as can be. Enter eco-clothier, Ungalli. I was surprised by Ungalli’s serious quality and their mind-blowing eco-cred. Like what, you ask? Welp, buying just 1 Ungalli t-shirt, saves 712 gallons of water, half a gallon of petroleum, reduces the output of 12 kilograms of carbon dioxide and 3 oz of chemicals … all while giving to charities that support animals, humanity, or the planet. Yeah, SHUT UP ALREADY IT’S ALL TOO GOOD. All Ungalli clothing is made from 100% recycled materials (like plastic bottles, reused cotton, food trays, beer bottles (I’m looking at you, Ashlee), and – perhaps the coolest – recycled x-ray film) and is ethically produced in North America. And as if that wasn’t enough – Every Ungalli purchase supports a majorly awesome charity like the New Hope Dog Rescue, Born Free Foundation, and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. Oh, and another thing. All of the guy models are like, really kissable looking, no? Just putting it out there. For a friend. Okay. Bye.
Meet the babes behind Ungalli
When Ungalli founders, Hailey and Bree, were children, their mother read them The Name of the Tree by Celia Barker Lottridge every night. The story takes place during a drought in Africa. The animals decide to work together to find food and they come across a tree filled with luscious fruit. The branches are too high for any of the animals to reach and this badass tortoise remembers his great, great grandmother telling him to chant the name of the tree to get the branches to come down. Only the king of the jungle knows the name of the tree and all the animals must come together to find the king. After finding out the name of the tree, the animals chant, the branches lower, and starvation and dehydration are avoided because all those mammer-jammers worked together. Oh, hell yeah. This simple childhood story ended up having a massive impact on their future. Growing up on a farm in Northern Ontario surrounded by horses, hayfields, and the scenic Kaministiquia River and spending their days caring for 20 horses, 2 dogs, 4 cats, and 20 chickens taught Hailey and Bree that the animals we share the world with are our equals, friends, teammates, and companions. When it came time for Hailey and Bree to start a stylin’ and ethical brand to help ameliorate environmental destruction and animal cruelty, their minds harked back to the name of that life-giving tree. YOU GUESSED IT, KIDS: Ungalli. And that name and legacy is the guiding principle of the entire company. Pretty cool, huh?
